Belle Vue Forest Trail is a recreation trail in Daruty Forest at Petit Raffray in northern Mauritius. The trail area sits within a much larger State planted forest established through the island's colonial forestry history.
The Forestry Service describes Daruty as predominantly planted with exotic tree species that once supplied timber for construction, livestock and agriculture. Mature flowering and timber trees now create a shaded forest walk with a very different character from coastal northern Mauritius.
The routes are relatively flat and designed as easy trekking loops, ranging from about 500 metres to around 3 km. The forest also preserves vestiges of an early colonial sugar-mill model, adding a historical layer to the nature walk.
Key details include Petit Raffray location, flat forest loops, planted tree diversity, colonial-era forest history and sugar-mill remains.
