Pereybere Beach is one of the most popular beaches in the north of Mauritius, located between Grand Baie and Cap Malheureux. Known for its clear turquoise lagoon, soft sand and easy access, this small but lively beach is ideal for swimming, relaxing and enjoying a simple beach day close to the main attractions of the north coast.
Compared to larger beaches like Mont Choisy, Pereybere feels more compact and convenient, with restaurants, cafés, shops and accommodation nearby. The water is often calm and clear, making it a favourite spot for families, couples and travellers staying around Grand Baie, Pereybere or Cap Malheureux. It is also a good beach for a quick swim before exploring the northern coastline.
As a local, I would recommend visiting Pereybere Beach early in the morning for a quieter experience and clearer water. Later in the day, the beach can become busy, especially on weekends and public holidays, but it remains one of the easiest and most enjoyable beaches to visit in north Mauritius.
Pereybere Beach is perfect to combine with Grand Baie, La Cuvette, Bain Boeuf, Cap Malheureux and the famous red-roof church, making it a great stop on a north coast road trip.
