Helicopter Underwater Waterfall Mauritius - Shared
See Mauritius' underwater waterfall from a shared helicopter flight from Bel Ombre. Fly over Le Morne's southwest coast in approximately 15 minutes.
The Underwater Waterfall Shared Helicopter Flight is an approximately 15-minute aerial tour from Bel Ombre to the famous illusion near Le Morne. You book an individual seat and share the helicopter with other guests; departures currently require at least four seats booked in total to operate.
The Underwater Waterfall Shared Helicopter Flight from Bel Ombre gives travellers a more accessible way to see one of Mauritius' most distinctive aerial landscapes without booking an entire helicopter.
Instead, you reserve an individual seat on a shared aircraft. The current flight carries up to six passengers and follows a compact circuit from Bel Ombre over the southwest coast towards the underwater waterfall near Le Morne.
Shortly after take-off, the route follows Baie du Cap and La Prairie, continues past Îlot Fourneau, then reaches the main aerial viewpoint offshore from the Le Morne peninsula. From above, pale trails of sand and silt contrast with the darker ocean, producing the impression that water is cascading beneath the sea.
Despite its name, the underwater waterfall is not a physical waterfall. It is an optical illusion created by underwater sand, sediment and the changing depth of the ocean shelf around Le Morne. The aerial perspective is what reveals the shape most clearly.
The shared format is the main distinction from the private Bel Ombre helicopter tour. You pay for your own seat rather than reserving the entire aircraft, but the departure depends on other passengers joining the same flight. The current product requires at least four seats booked in total; if that minimum is not reached, guests are currently offered a refund or rescheduling option.
This experience is particularly suited to solo travellers, couples and small groups who want the aerial view without needing a private helicopter. It may be less suitable for travellers who need complete control over the aircraft, passenger group or departure arrangement.
The entire flight is deliberately short and focused. If your priority is the underwater waterfall and Le Morne coastline, it makes sense. If you want Black River Gorges, Chamarel and a broader aerial tour of Mauritius, a longer helicopter circuit would provide more variety.
