What to know before arriving

•  Boat-only access — Îlot Gabriel is accessible by boat, speedboat or catamaran. Arrange both the outward and return journey before setting off.

•  Snorkelling — Excellent in our local assessment and one of the main reasons to visit. Choose a suitable area with guidance from the crew rather than entering wherever the water looks clear.

•  Currents between islands — Strong currents can occur between the islands. Do not attempt to swim across the channel or follow a snorkelling route into it.

•  Swimming ability — Stay within your ability and follow the crew’s instructions. Confident swimming skills do not make a strong current safe.

•  Entering and leaving the water — Agree on the entry point, exit point and limits of the snorkelling area before entering. Stay with your group or buddy.

•  Protect the underwater environment — Avoid standing on coral, touching marine life or striking the seabed with fins. Enjoy the reef without disturbing it.
